Cowboy Boots are a necessity for anyone dressing western-style. With origins uniquely American west and dating back to the 1800s, cowboy boots are as American as apple pie. While many people now wear them for their unique western style, the design and function of the boots were very practical for the cowboys who made them famous.
There are several things that make cowboy boots unique. The distinctive high heel, pointed toe and high arch were specially desigend for horseback riding, and of course cowboys spent much of their day in the saddle. The distinctive and fancy stitching on the tops of the boot are a later addition, added mainly for style.
When choosing a cowboy boot, make sure to get a pair that will fit comfortably. Today, western boots are sold in many different toe styles (rounded, square or pointed), arch styles (from high to low) and heel heights (from about one-quarter inch to several inches). Take a look at your foot to determine which toe style is likely to fit your foot best for greatest comfort.
